5 Tips To Organise Your Linen

Tip 1:

  The Rules

Tempting as it may be to hold on to all your old linen sets, saving space is the key here so be ruthless. For bedding, you need three sets per bed: one on the bed, one spare and one in the wash. When it comes to towels, you need two sets per person, two spares and a guest set.

Tip 2:

Keep Old Duvets For Dust Sheets

Keep a couple of old duvets as dust sheets and one old towel for cleaning rags, but no more than that. You don't want to horde unnecessarily. Chuck any marked, threadbare or faded linen and towels. Don't keep sets for when the kids "go to uni". You can buy new ones for under £20 when they do. It's
better to bag the old ones up for the charity shop.

Tip 3:

 Take Note Of Sheet Sizes

There's nothing more frustrating than rifling through piles of linen trying to find the right-sized bed sheets. If you have lots of different-sized beds, write what they are on the wash label ("single duvet", "double fitted sheet" and so
on) with a linen marker, and save yourself shedloads of time and frustration.

Tip 4:

Keep Linen Where You Use It

It's so much easier to keep linen in drawers, storage boxes or bags within the bedroom that you use it. So keep the kids' duvet covers in their rooms, and the towels in the airing cupboard in the bathroom.

Tip 5:

 Space Saving Storage

Avoid messy piles and save space by stacking up towels on top of each other. Sometimes its even better to roll them up first to help squeeze more in. Fold each duvet cover around its mattress sheet and pop them inside the matching pillowcase with the other pillowcases, to store a complete set.
